Hi, I'm a self employed loft converter, trading under my name, I get my work from one company through CIS and get paid via bank transfer. I've been completing my tax return myself since I became self employed in 2011, so have only completed two, my last tax return I didn't get in with too well and wasn't part of the CIS Scheme so was liable for paying my own tax, that I didn't out aside enough of, I am currently paying a monthly sum agreed with by HMRC to pay that off. I've recently had a letter from HMRC saying that I removed class4 national insurance from last years return and that they are now looking into it, I wasn't aware until now that I had to pay class4 as well as class2. I'm not sure if my return for last year can be re submitted by an accountant (I have all finance information for that year) invoices, receipts etc, would that be possible? Then I have this years tax return, I do not want to get it wrong. Midway through the year I went CIS so a majority of my tax has been paid already. I have bank statements and invoices for all of this year, how ever I have no receipts, fuel, equipment, etc, can I still
Claim expenses?? Some of the tax return I understand the basic of but get confused with, especially when asked for profits? When I'm not a business? But that would make sense to you.
To put it short,
What I'm asking is for a quote to 1. put last years return right, 2. To complete this years return correctly(I haven't started) 3. To have an accountant for future returns.(I will keep on top of receipts in future)
