I'm a freelance illustrator and children's author. Previously my earnings have been very modest indeed but now, with a couple of books of my own in print, I'm beginning to make something like the national average wage and hoping that this upward trend might continue. My accounting and tax affairs have always been pretty simple before now but I'm aware that with royalties beginning to be a factor, and the timing and sizes of book advances leading to potentially very varied annual earnings, I might benefit from some advice and some help with my bookkeeping. However, I have little idea what help might be available or what kind of cost it might incur.
