My wife and I have been running a business as a sole trader/partnership for three years. Some of my revenues are outside the EU. Some of the products I sell are zero rated. Our overall revenue for this business is approaching the VAT registration threshold. We have recently started a second (separate) business as a partnership which has got off to a good start. I'd like some advice on how to structure these two businesses to minimise overall tax (VAT/Income tax/Corporation tax/NI). Should we incorporate one or both businesses? If so, as a single entity or as two separate businesses? From here on I expect that we'll need regular accounting help. I'm looking for a local firm who would offer an initial meeting and proposals as to how we should move forward without charge with a view to establishing an ongoing relationship.
